How to post temporary hours changes or closures at your shop
Notices that only matter today — closing early, closed for maintenance — get tangled with stale info if you leave them on a permanent sign or social feed. A temporary page is posted only for the days you need and auto-deletes when it expires, preventing confusion from forgotten notices. It is login-free and free, and you can make it from your phone on the spot.
Create this page →What to put on the page
- The changed hours / closure date and a brief reason
- The dates it applies to
- When you'll return to normal
- An alternative for bookings / enquiries (phone or web form)
- Nearby stores or online options (if any)
Where to post the QR
- A notice on the entrance door or shutter
- A POP by the register or counter
- Near the ticket machine or queue desk
- On your Google Maps or social profile
When to create it
Make and post it as soon as the change is decided. If the period is set ("3 days from tomorrow"), match the expiry to it so the notice auto-clears after the last day and no stale info remains.
Recommended expiry Match the period (today only = 24 hours / a few days = 3–7 days)
Keeping personal data off the page
- Don't post staff personal mobiles or socials — use the store's main contact
- Keep the reason brief ("for maintenance") and avoid anything that helps intruders
- It's public, so don't write internal notes such as closing tasks
Worked example
Here's roughly how it looks once built. It auto-deletes when it expires.
Notice
We're closing early at 15:00 today for equipment maintenance.
Normal hours
Back to normal tomorrow, 11:00–20:00.
Contact
Store line: 03-0000-0000 (during business hours)
Tips for using it well
- Print just "About today's hours" large and show the detail via QR to save space
- If the period extends, edit the dates and re-create with a new expiry
- Send the URL to regulars via social so they notice before visiting
